#Xbox 360 controller battery status series
Hello, I preordered the new Xbox series X and the USB-C play and charge kit but I’m not sure the play and charge kit is working.

I dont know how to see the correct battery percentage ,there is no indication on the controller nor the cable to show this, I replaced the charger kit thinking it was faulty, but even the new one is showing always battery as critical when you press the Xbox button, my windows has the latest update + controller updated via Xbox accessories, even when you go to Bluetooth devices, battery is always showing 100%, I still dont know if this is from battery Kit not charging or because of a software bug in windows 10, I dont have any other consoles as I am a Pc gamer, also there is no clear answer from Microsoft if its related to a software bug so we can wait for an update at least, how come they introduce a new hardware to the market without checking these minor issues first, I got Xbox controller just because of easy compatibility with games on PC, I think if this issue persists during the coming days without Microsoft acknowledging its a software related issue, then I will replace it with Dualsense PS5 controller as it has built-in battery instead of having all this crap from Microsoft. I am having the same issue, I just got Xbox series x controller + the charging Kit. We've created a task on Game Bar to also use this 'better' version in the future so that they match.Īlthough not mentioned here we're also working on adding functionality so that when the share button is pressed on the series X|S controllers the Game Bar gallery is opened so that you can see your images and videos. It does a better job of determining this state. Is there really no way to see your controller's battery percentage in Windows?"Ĭurrently the other way to see this is through the "Bluetooth and other devices" page in Settings. These are not prioritized for implementation as of yet.
We've added it our backlog for Game Bar and the Accessories app. We've investigated this a bit and yes, there are numerous issues to be addressed.īoth of these are basically feature requests, we've never shown charging status, so we'd need to add that capability.
Does this thing just not work and maybe the battery pack is fine? Is there really no way to see your controller's battery percentage in Windows? There's no charging LED on the cable or controller itself.ĭid I just get a DOA battery? Or am I missing something to get this thing charging on Windows?ĮDIT: Just tried with the two AA batteries included with the controller which I assume are brand new (they were sealed) and it still shows "HID compliant game controller: Critical" in the game bar app.
I've had this thing plugged in for hours and it doesn't seem like it's charging at all (although I can't find any icon or indication in Windows showing that it even is charging when plugged in). The "Xbox Game Bar" app shows no battery or charging indicator when the controller's plugged in, but when connected via Bluetooth it shows an empty battery icon that says "HID compliant game controller: Critical" when you hover over it. There's no battery percentage or lightning icon indicating that it's actually charging.

The "Xbox Accessories" app it had me download shows no indication of battery life when the controller is connected via Bluetooth, and when it's wired it just says "Battery level: Plugged in". The controller works great wired and via Bluetooth, but I can't seem to get the battery pack to charge. With it, I got the "Rechargeable Battery + USB-C Cable" which I gather is the new version of the Play & Charge Kit.

So I just bought a new Carbon Black Xbox Controller to replace my old wired 360 controller for gaming on my Windows 10 PC.
